I'm having trouble finding out what simple inkle patterns would be period.  I'm looking for stuff that would be appropriate for renaissance faires so Elizabethan but other periods would be good to know too.  By simple, I mean nothing using tablets or pick-up patterns.  I'm doing those too but I think I've been able to find at least some information on what were common pattens and when.

If anyone has any thoughts about colors I'd love to hear that as well.  Right now my only guess is to stick to contrasting colors like the clothing and I'm thinking no white in the trim but I could be wrong on that.  Just trying to go off of pictures I can google search right now so any help would be great.

Thanks,

Trey

I could be way off base here, but your problem may be your search terminology. Technically speaking "inkle" weaving is a modern term, as the inkle loom is a modern style loom. Rigid heddles weaving is the medieval and ancient way to produce a two shed weave. It's been ages since I tried looking for 2 shaft medieval designs, so I can't guarantee that simple change in wording will provide better results.

Good luck and share what you find please!

I was just researching this myself.   Here's a few sites I found.
