A loom I have just finished making. It is a four harness, counterbalance loom modelled after a Glimakra Julia.

Very impressive! I love how you accounted for having a place to hang the warping board.

Thank you for the positive comments. The loom is working pretty nicely though I did need to take the breast beam off and round it over a bit more. It is nice and quiet and the treadling is fairly light. With the test weave I am having no problem getting unbalanced sheds. I have it tied up as tabby & 2/2 twill using a straight draft threading but am able to easily get good sheds for 1/3 twill using two treadles at a time. Given how many times I have read that it is hard to get unbalanced sheds on a counterbalance I was pleased that this is not the case. I guess the real test there will be with unbalanced threading. It is certainly working well enough for a total newbie like me to learn on.

I am curious about how long it took you to build this loom. Looks like a fine loom!

A fine build for sure. It seems like your having success with the weaving process on it, so that is quite satisfying. :)

It took about 3 weeks mainly just on weekends around other jobs. Some of the time was waiting for the reed, texsolv cord and heddles to arrive as we have no weaving supply store in this state and waiting for the oil to dry.

Not just functional, but quite attractive as well.  I hope you put a maker's mark on it!         DRW

I wish I had your ability to woodwork.   I have made a number of weaving tools for myself like a weaving sword and some suttles with my exacto knife and some modifications to my little brio loom, like a wire lock for my heddle leaver( holds the rigid heddle in the nuteral position for warping and such) but this is a true masterpiece of a loom.    CUDOS !!

Your loom is absolutely beautiful!!!  My husband and I are playing around with the idea of building a loom ourselves.  Did you have plans for this one or make up the plans on your own?
