Tap, tap.. is this thing on??
Let's do some intros, I'll go first-- although it looks like Orion has already begun come to think of it. Ahem.
So, I find myself increasingly drawn to non-yarn, after doing 'normal' weaving for some time. I did some straw weaving in Sweden summer of 08. There's actually a pretty strong old tradition of that there. Found some beautiful weaving someone else had done with blueberry sticks. That was cool. And lately I've been playing with weaving with wire. I have a roll of plastic yarn that's going to get on the RH loom at some point. I weave linen mostly on a 4 shaft CB Glimåkra, but got a rigid heddle Emilia a few months ago. It so small and has almost no loom waste, sets up in a few hours-- so it's great for experiments-- since there's so little invested in it. I'll get some pictures up at some point. I included overtwisted yarns in this group-- but considered putting those in a 'Distortions' group along with collapse weave and felted shibori-- but decided not to spread it too thin at first. That may still happen, or someone else may do it first. What else-- oh there's a cone of Habu silk wrapped steel and one of that-steel- that's-almos-too-fine-to-see in the stash too. At any rate, I look forward to seeing what else people have and will come up with.
