May is here. What happened to April? Cool Looking forward to seeing all the wonderful weaverliness from everyone. The projects and discussions so far this year have been very inspiring. Weave on!

HEHEHE!!  Tien, dearest!  You are in so much trouble right now!!.  Got bit by the fiber bug and now all you will dream about are sheep, alpaca, rabbit, camel and any other kind of spinnable fiber made by animals.

Your house will become filled with fluffy piles of fleeces, roving and dyed braids.  You will look at cats and dogs and wonder...."can I spin it's fur?"

Ahhhh..yes!  There is no real cure for this addiciton.  I have tried as have other.  All you can do is avoid going to sheep and wool festival, looking at publications like SpinOff and turn off the internet when WoolWorks, or the Woolery pop up on your screen.

Good luck my daughter.  Just be sure to comb the fiber out of your hair before you leave the house....

Place mat warp is ready to weave and rose warp is ready to beam on the AVL. Fighting off a nap attack. Maybe lunch will help... Cheers Laura

LOL! Nope, I went through that ten years ago, accumulating more than my weight in wool along the way. I gave it all away when I went backpacking through Southeast Asia...and I am NOT doing that again!! So no, not buying fourteen fleeces or eight spinning wheels (or even ONE spinning wheel). I don't have the space for it, and it would be a distraction from weaving!

But I'm pleased to say that I finished spinning my first sock's worth of yarn. Plied, skeined, and washed it yesterday. It came out balanced! So I must not be as rusty as I'd thought.

Meanwhile, I am thinking about what I want to do with the handwoven, handspun blanket idea. I am really trying to resist the idea of weaving an image of a Lincoln sheep, on the new jacquard loom, of course! I think a simple color gradation would be wiser, and probably better for a blanket that will quickly be covered in cat hair. :-)

Bjr, you're doing a nice job on your loom! You've got a lot on your plate but at least it sounds like it's all fiber, lol( except the gardening!) Thanks ReedGuy about your lace experience - I think you're right, it's going to shift enough. Doing a sample anyways, why am I worrying about the sample? That's really funny:) Yes, Erica, 2 looms at the lake sometimes 3. All I can say is I have a very patient husband and a big van! Getting ready to go back home this weekend then out to B.C. to go fly fishing with Dad in Montana. Another trip planned after that, then finally the surgeries in July that were supposed to be in May. Then back to weaving full time:)

...10 years ago!  Goodness!  Gave it all away.  I am impressed indeed.  Good girl!

Just ate my very first salad from my first garden.  What satisfaction.  Eating what you grow, wearing what you knit, weaving what you spin....etc..there is just nothing like it.

Have fun in BC and may you both catch much fish!

Thanks for the comment about the weaving.  Still learning and having lots of fun along the way.

MMs-and-OOs-Ha…

Your kitties will absolutely adore your handspun blanket! I can hardly look at mine or use it because of the memories, my dear departed Yorkies and the many kitties that loved to burrow in the blanket I made. Great "showpiece" for fleece buying.

the 8 harness floor loom is out of the corner this Saturday.  Working on gettting his improvments done.  Got some cotton crochet thread out and my little round purple hand cranked knitting machine ready  Turned out 3 very long chained ropes and braded them together to make a strong line to attach to the tension brake at the warp beam.  Next item of business is to find or have fabricated a strong 4x 45 x1/4 flat rod for the warp beam.  There is an apron attached to the warp beam and the long flat rod will go into it.  There are several other tasks to be done for this loom and I don't want them to go undone.

Gotta get movin on this stuff.  Summer will be over soon and Weatherbell.com is predicting another cold NE winter!  I need my rugs and the blanket I am planning!

So the back beam partially fell off my loom! Hmmm... Just goes to show that these old ones need a good going Over , tightening bolts etc. what I have is a metal peg that goes from The frame into the beam. Heard a big Whomp, couldn't figure out what Snapped, then there it was! Fortunately an easy fix, had the cross all Tied up, so no harm done! Phew I could thread or I could watch game 7 of Stanley Cup Playoffs, I really want to do both:) where there's a will.....

Cathie, seems to be a plague as someone else had the same thing happen a couple of days ago. :( Hope you can get it fixed. Cheers Laura

Thanks Laura, I think it's ok now. But I leave tomorrow so I don't see this loom again until August. I'll have to see how it weaves then. I might have lost a piece, some sort of end cap to keep the rod in place. Will have to look at the website. Not only do we have to know how to weave, ( which is fun) but we have to be mechanics too:)
