Hi all,

How would you weave on 5 shafts?  I read somewhere that it's possible on a counterbalance loom.

thanks

yes.

You need a five-shaft pulley (well, a pair of them, of course)

I am sure I have posted apicture her, but cant find it -

The empty hole is used for the fifth shaft, which can be hung at the back of the other four. Some ppl like to hang it in the middle.

You can also use two pullies. The upper one holds shaft 5 directly tied from the pulley (no horse) the other side of the pulley has a secondary pulley suspending two horses to attach shafts 1-4.

thanks!

Does anyone know where to find information on 5 harness spot bronson?

I found one pamphlet on handweaving.net and am also struggling to understand the draft.

I don't know how to post a picture of it.

Donna Muller has a 5 shaft spot Bronson diamond pattern in her book "Handwoven Laces"

For weft spots on top, the tie up is

shaft 5 (counting up from bottom) does plain weave when alternated with 1 between the diamonds as does treadle 2 (counting from left) alternated with 1. Threading and tredling point style, but each repeated as such.
