I know about using the "bra" on a counterbalance looms when weaving a narrow warp but my current loom is countermarch.  Before I take the unused heddles off, thought I'd ask if there is anything special I need to do to the heddle bars when weaving this narrow warp or is that not an issue with a countermarch?

The question of narrow warps on big countermarch looms came up a couple times, including here (hint: read all the way down).  You may find the shafts tend to fall when you take the pins out, and some treadles may ride high or low.  As is stated many times and places, what really matters is the quality of the open shed, not what the loom looks like when it is at rest.   It seems what counts is less the ratio of the warp to the width of the loom, and more the angle between the outside treadles and the warp.  In other words, a narrow warp with a treadle-hungry structure may give you more problems than one needing only a few (centered) treadles.  Won't know until you try.

In any case, on a countermarch all the action will be with the lamms and treadles, not the shaft bars.  So leaving or taking off shafts that won't be tied up isn't going to help.   On the other hand, you mentioned the vavstuga shaft bras, which can be used on your countermarch too.

Good luck.  Do report your results.

for alerting me to earlier discussion and for your input.  I will keep you posted but sounds like all should go well since using 4 treadles with 4 shafts and will tie up the treadles within the width of the warp, which is around 11 inches wide.
