I made the mistake of trying to use some blue rug warp that came with my loom. Tbe color is nice, but the stuff sticks to itself and tangles and knots like nothing I'd seen. Had no idea when I started that this stuff was that bad. When I looked at it more closely, it's looks like cheap dyed string.
But would I give up? No00000ooooo! I have the legendary family stubborn streak. Now that my foot is out of the cast and I can do the required standing and shifting etc, I wanted to get the loom warped to I can WEAVE! I bet I resurrected every cuss word I've ever learned, and I rarely cuss. I bet that it took me 3 times longer than necessary to finish warping my loom, and most of that time was spent untangling. I'd added in some stripes in another thread, and those handled nicely, no tangling, just shook loose.
Well, I know better now, and am pondering how much, what colors, and where to order from. I did (FINALLY) get the loom warped, and have started another rag rug, which so far is looking good. This time I am using a guide warp to help with the selvedge.
PS: I finally resorted to hand lotion to condition the threads so they wouldn't keep grabbing each other. It'll wash out. The rest of the d**g stuff I'll either use as weft for towels or throw it in the wood stove.
