A question about where to find tapestry instruction recently was posted to the yahoo tapestry list.  One reply that was noted there was that the American Tapestry Alliance website has an educator roster; here's the link to it:

American Tapestry Alliance is a wonderful organization that has created a network for people interested in tapestry all over the world.  It has over a 25 year history and offers many resources, including retreats and workshops, exhibition opportunities, and a mentor program for either beginners (Helpings Hands) or intermediate tapestry makers (Distance Learning).  If you haven't visited the website, here's the link:

I love this time of year when all the classes start and workshops appear.

Thanks for posting this Tommye. I am still hoping for something closer to my home near DC. I'm patient.

Happy 2010.

 Claudia,

You might want to contact Joan Griffin who's in Charlottesville, VA--she teaches privately at her studio and also travels to do workshops.  Don Burns is in DC, I think.  He also teaches tapestry.  Both are listed in the ATA Educators Roster at the ATA website: http://americantapestryalliance.org   -- look at the side bar to locate the link within the website.
