Found in the book "The Best of Weaver's - Thick 'n Thin" page 38, there's an interesting color-and-weave effect based on log cabin.
Picture in your mind the Log Cabin results we've been working on.
Now, add the dimension of a color shift across the weave. The text presents a two color and three color fabric done on a 2-shaft loom that looks like it could be duplicated on the RH loom.
While details are difficult to convey in this forum, the weave is created using multiple strands of warp (and weft) threaded and woven as one strand. Each warp varies in the number of strands such that the warp thickness varies across the draft. The weft is similar - with each picks for adjacent rows of blocks changing in thickness. The three color version also changes the weft using varying numbers of each of the colors held together for a pick. A fine 20/2 pearl cotton is used.
This example highlights one of the many elaborate looking effects possible using a simple loom!
There are other possible 2-shaft weaves presented in this book alternating thick and thin yarns for interesting results.
