Greetings, Fellow Weavers,

I am so impressed with all of your renovations on used looms.

I have a used loom with 8 harnesses.  One of them is missing its heddle bars.  Any ideas on a good source for replacement heddle bars?  It's a Herald Loom (they aren't in business anymore), and it's very similar to a LeClerc Artistat I think.  45" wide.

Any ideas of websites, etc.?

I'm thinking I might even just go to a metal workshop and ask them to make them for me.  I think they are carbon steel (seems like the same metal as a wok I have).

Until I replace them, I can only use 7 harnesses, which seems a shame.

Thanks!

Rebecca, first off you need to also post this on the weaving forum. You have the harness frames, and you just need bars,    Right? bars are not a problem, they are tempered steel., like spring steel. Let me know where you live and I will point you in the right direction.

I've purchased heddle bars of all sizes from Tom Beaudet, the US rep for LeClerc looms, just not for my Herald.  LeClerc bars are usually not blued steel, like your originals.  You'll need to send him dimensions, including thickness and height, and length so they will fit in the side brackets on your loom.  This is him:  http://mysite.verizon.net/t.beaudet/
