Ximena is using a chunky wool from Southern Chile and these are the best she has so far for 7 colors on the wheel.  They weren't quite dry yet last night when we talked, but some are close.  She used a blue and polar red for the violet and it has streaks of bluer and reder areas.  Polar red causes lots of problems!  She will retry with Violet and Deep Red.  She will upload Munsell Notations soon.

Sorry for the head tipping pic, both of us tried to rotate it but --no cigar!

I love the look of this wool in colors. Do you have a lot? Do you have a project in mind after the class?

Argh!  Not looking forward to new problems with Polar Red!  May I plead I've already had issues and just skip to the end?

I have a yarn I bought from a friend several years ago that looks very much like Ximena's chunky yarn.  Her yarn is going to be gloriously colored and soft...

Polar red is not a Lanaset dye, some people use it to get the bright fuchsias  (Ximena loves them), but always a problem and optional.  After you get used to the stability and ease of Lanaset it is a hard sell, but life always has compromises.

Peggy, what kind of hand does your wool have  after dyeing with Lanaset?  Depends a little on your rinse water, but mine were always wonderful, soft (not stiff ). One of the advantages of adjusting the pH.
