I hope everyone in the NW knows about the Nordic Heritage Museum in the Ballard neighborhood in Seattle. It is three stories of exhibits, with quite a bit for textile interests.

At any rate, I got up to it yesterday and llistened to a lecture by Theresa Trebon, a local historian, who has compiled the story of the life of Margaret Bergman who created teh Bergman looms. It is a really fascinating history, and some gorgeous textile of course. And of course, very important to the cultural history of the Pasific NW and development of weaving during the Great Depression. So, keep her name in mind and look for a book in a few years!
The other thing I got to see is a lovely weaving exhibit (coupled with a ceramics exhibit) from the Seattle Weavers Guild. There were some LOVELY pieces! I am so glad I got there to see it. I am currently smitten with tablet woven things, so those ones I paid alot of attention to. There is also a nice display of transparencies. And of course, some textiles by Margaret Bergman herself.
Here is one of may favorite things from the show, a tablet woven Yggdrasil by Lois Gaylord. I think it was my favorite. Look at how lovely the roots are in the detail!
