I built this loom Thursday but didn't want to take a picture of it until I rearranged my hobby room. Now, I'm waiting on some warp twine to give it a good workout. Looks like there's going to be a lot of learning, learning and more learning and then fixing some of the learnings. Hope ya'll like it. I DO.

Great Tapestry Loom! Congratulations!

I don't know if words can explain this but how tight should the warp be wound? Is it just so I can pull the shed stick when I get it set up or is it wound tight like to middle C on a piano. LOL. I don't have any one, I know of, that lives close enough to instruct me. Ya'll will have to be my teachers.

I think for my first project, I'll just do some squares and start learning some weaving patterns. I do have a book coming (Tapestry Weaving by Kirsten Glasbrook). Maybe there will be a start up procedure for new weavers in it.

... warp it evenly and firmly and you can increase or decrease tension with the threaded rod. Your weft should cover the warp-- if the warp is "bending" along with the weft then it's too loose. If you're having trouble getting your fingers in the shed, it's too tight.

Ha!  Now you have two looms!   Good job!

You are discovering, like the rest of us, that these things multiply, seemingly on their own!  Welcome to weaving!

And, if you want to increase your library, I highly recommend Tapestry 101 by Kathe Todd-Hooker. You can get it from her business ( with Pat Spark ) Fine Fibre Press. They are on West Coast Time. Good luck to you, ask away, welcome to Tapestry weaving! Cathie

Seems everthing comes in 2's around here for some reason. I'm waiting on the twine, bobbins, and wool to come this week to get started with. I might try some walmart stuff on the Ashford loom to take the intimidation out of it. Thanks Richard
