Does anyone have suggestions for ways to get PowerPoint presentations/PDF files, or Word Docs to students other than emailing them?  I want them to have hard copies of the presentations to refer back to, once they are working on their own.  Someone has suggested Google Docs, I've expermented with that, do those that use Google Docs publish to the web or just share links with students?

These would be Cyber Fiber Students I'm referring to, for regular classes I offer a bound color monograph.

Google docs is what we have used for the past 2 classes; I think it is easy and fab.  You make/upload the document and are the owner.  You decide who to share with and what level of sharing to allow each ( read only or edit).

I put up Powerpoint presentations which they can see, download, print all or part of.  I add other materials.  The participants also share document, pictures, timelines that I have asked them to create.  Then we have collective speadsheets where each person fills in the data they have generated.  Free and easy.

If you want to see what we do I'd be glad to share with you, just need your email (gmail if you have one).

You can publish Google Docs on the web. I've had problems with the size limitations in the past, but I think this has changed in the last few months. I just uploaded a fairly substantial file with no problems. Other options would be via blogs, or websites. These are obviously only options for those who don't mind non-paying students accessing the files.

I think GoogleDocs is the probably the best option.

Edit, actually I just finished my presentation for this weekend. There are a lot of photos in it, and if I include the photos it's too large.

You would also need e-mail addresses either way, for sending direct or sharing. Is there a way you can send the file via the chat session in WebEx?

Cheers,

Erica
