Linda, I left some comments on your google spreadsheet.  Check 'em out.

Your comments led me to double check my bullseye.  My turquoise dot was in the wrong location!  (was on 2.5BG instead of 2.5B)  That's why my B and BG initial tries were so off in hue.

And I needed to look more carefully at where my PB trials were landing.

Booboos galore!  Hope I'm on a better track now.  Pays to be very careful when looking at the bullseye, and doublecheck everything.

Linda, I'm impressed with your systematic movement to your target color.  Your demanding sense of color has made you work very hard, but these are not stabs in the dark but very deliberate and methodical progress to the colors you want.  It shows a profound understanding of color; I hope some of it is due to the work you have done in this class.

but it also feels like I'm making steady progress.  You are the best teacher!  I don't know of anyone else who is teaching this type of methodology, and it's a goldmine of information.  So wonderful to have this class and your expertise and knowledge available on Weavolution.

One of the key suggestions you made that is making a difference in my approach is to do more colors in parallel, rather than multiple trials for one color in parallel.  Since I know I have only one try for each color in a dye session, I have been trying to make it the most useful trial, which makes me analyze the data more carefully rather than just trying a bunch of different things (which is what I did at first).  One of the things I'm getting a feel for (which is what experience needs to teach me, along with getting better at analyzing the data) is how great a change I need along some of these vectors.

I may not be quite done with the color wheel by the time the class ends, but I know I'll finish it (as closely as I can).  I did the three blacks on Saturday along with my color trials, and then did a large batch (three large skeins) yesterday.  And got fiber I can weave with!
