The countdown to the holidays is upon us. time is quickly running out. It has been very quiet in the room lately and I will interpret that to mean we are all busily working away at our looms, or sinning wheels, or knitting needles and crochet hooks. I know that for some of us life gets in the way of our fiber work but. . .  Comment when you can, share projects, and just let us know you are out there! Weave on!

I have moved onto the next "twice woven" project after the Christmas Trees & Garland.

I am making oodles of chenille. I started with a plan for a modest cushion, then thought I'd make 2 pillow covers, but now that I see how many fluffy worms I have produced, I may go ahead and make a rug.

With the leftover warp, I am going to sample cloth instead of yarn.

One unexpected glitch: I am using a borrowed floor loom. I assumed when beaming on a 6 yard warp I had plenty of room to make long chenille worms. I know the cloth beam fills fast with bundled warps. What I didn't consider was how close the cloth beam was to the castle on this particular loom, so I had to cut off just shy of 3 yards and restart again.

However, I am still having fun with this project - phase II.

This is it for now! I am loaning this sweet little Dorset loom to another weaver for awhile, but it has been fun to experiment with making all kinds of chenille "worms!"

Looks like you had lots of fun. Love the worms. . .

Hello!  I’m in Anne Dixon’s Pattern Directory, page 191 getting ready to thread some Swedish lace scarves with 8/2 tencel and BOOM, I’m feeling like a newbie again!  There’s a repeat (x5) that says to thread 1414121.  But if I follow that direction, wont I have two consecutive threads on shaft 1?  I’ve tried to search the net and my resource books, but can’t find an answer. Then I thought, well, is this part of the nature of this particular pattern threading (large/small squares of lace). Has anyone encountered this, or am I reading wrong?  I’ve got an email out to Interweave Press because I‘ve Learned there is an errata site but I can’t locate it. Thanks for any help.

You are misreading.  The 5X repeat is 141412.

Thanks for helping me look beyond the marks on the page!  Anne’s Swedish lace intro on page 186 clarifies that just one extra thread is needed when threading multiple blocks that start and end on the same shaft. So the bracket placement on page 191 (x5) has one too many threads and I intend  to kick one out so it will join “tabby” between the blocks. I’ll have 6 too many threads after all is threaded but I’ve threaded front to back so these can easily be omitted as I beam the back.

Has anyone ever blended wool and tencel together??

received a small amount of merino and would like to make a scarf

The Swedish 20/2 wool called Mora comes in a lot of colors and makes a very nice warp.  You can use what you have for the weft.  Wool is such a wonderful fiber for scarves.

You can buy merino and Tencel roving. It spins up nicely.

is coming to a close. I have planned two different towel warps, but no actual weaving has been done - outside of a potholder or two! I have, however, been busy spinning and knitting.

I will post the December thread later today or first thing in the morning.

Weave on!
