My Macomber has 8 harness but room for 12.   The 8 harnesses I have are mounted toward the cloth beam (front) of the loom, but I'm thinking of moving them to the back.   I think I could successfully do the move itself, but I'm wondering if there would be any unforeseen consequences.  I’ve noticed that the jacks are angled a little front to back, but I don’t see how moving the harness would be a problem since the rate of change to that angling would still be consistent.

OK, someone is going to ask why I’m doing this. . .    Well, I’m thinking of making a simple little draw loom device, and since I don’t have long eyed heddles, the draw device would have to be mounted in the front.  So moving the harnesses back would give me a little extra room at the front.   Any thoughts??

I have no idea what that stuff is at the beginning of my post.   When I try to edit it out, it's not there.   I tried cutting the whole thing out and pasting it back in, but it's still there.    Sorry about that. . . .

I say go for it. What could it hurt. If you don't like it you could always move them back again. You will find here in the Macomber group instructions for removing the jacks and lamms. It will be interesting to see how this turns out.
