I just purchased a floor loom which is a copy of a Glimakra loom. (sorry, I don't know the model.)  The maker was a weaving teacher who made a few of these for his students,.  Which dent would you recomment for a first reed for the larger floor loom?  I have used a 10 and 12 dent reed on my table loom so far.   (I realize the loom isn't complete in the picture, it is just one of the pictures the seller sent.  I have all of the pieces, not yet put together.)   Thank you for your help.

It might be better to have the loom assembled before buying a reed, as you need to know the reed height and width along with the epi. 12 dent seems to be the standard in America today. I am sorry to report many hand-built looms I have encountered made by skilled woodworkers have not proven to be good looms, regardless of what loom brand or directions they were based on. Even slight variations or "improvements" can cause problems. This is another reason to assemble the loom first and make sure it is in good working order before proceeding. Good luck-

I agree with Sally.  One thing that builders often do is to make the heddle bars too heavy, much too heavy to balance, thinking that thicker is better.  If you use a different browser, you may be able to avoid all the code in your posts.

Can anyone comment on reed HEIGHT?What determines whether a 4-inch or a 5-inch high reed should be used?
