The month of October, coinciding with Spinning and Weaving Week,
Weavolution is hosting it’s first ever HalloWeave Extravaganza!
HalloWeave is a fun four week event, where each of us gets a wee bit better at fibery things;
weaving, spinning, finishing, dyeing, etc.
October 3rd, 2011 - Halloween, October 31.
We’re recruiting you to help make this fun and successful.
We know you teach…are you willing to lead?
What’s in it for you?
- Fun light opportunity to have people start using the tools of weavolution for future classes. (uploading pictures, webex, groups)
- You’ll be increasing your visibility online as a Weavolution teacher.
- By engaging new people, you may increase the number Weavolution members and students in your classes .
Many people weave but only a few will step up to lead!
- Group Name: Stripemaniacs of Transilvania
- Group Leader: Mary Rios
- Demon: Paralysis by anaylsis.... That’s what happens when I think about stripes in my warp. I don’t do them, because I don’t think I do them well.
- The Dare: I’ll be creating a tea towel with (hopefully) appealing stripes.
- Execution: Dracula will join us and guide our group to Transtripevania to maybe study Fibanocci, online random strip generators and general discussion of how to make an appealing warp with stripes. Let’s look at how others are doing it so effortlessly. I think collective minds with the same issue will conquer this. After looking at good samples, and understanding Fibanoccia, maybe we’ll have a better results.
- Project: My project will be a tea towel in stripes, random or pattern. What will yours be?
Let’s meet up online via webex one evening a week during HalloWeave to discuss our problems and progress. We’ll share our pictures and have discussions online.
If this interests you, become a member of Stripemaniacs of Transilvania and finally put the stake in heart of this vexing issue, vanishing our paralysis by anaylsis for good!
- be able to set up a public group on Weavolution.
- be able to convene and conduct 3 half hour WebEx meetings(easy to learn)
- some administrative responsibilities such as getting all group members names to prize bank
- willingness to engage in HalloWeave events
- Get an idea and name your group. Silliness encouraged.
- Post motivation and description of your idea for the group.
- Optional: group logo or graphic.
- Recruit members.
- Keep a list of people who join your group and send to prize bank.
- Moderate group.

- Convene and host weekly half hour Webex gatherings of your group.
- Optional: Collect and award prizes within the group. State criteria for prizes clearly. Random awards encourage membership. Don't become a judge.
Group leaders are NOT responsible for teaching or coaching anything in their groups. This is a self-directed experience. It is not a weave-a-long, not a class. It is time in your studio to do those things you have been meaning to do and an incentive to complete it. At the most the group leader is a model on how to attack a weaving demon.
- HalloWeave group formation will start soon, under groups with special HalloWeave tab. We would like the majority of the groups in place by 19 September when we will invite the Weavolution membership to join the HalloWeave groups.
Please feel free to ask me question here, by PM or email. This is the first year, new to everyone so I'm sure there are lots of loose ends.
