I am relatively new to weaving. I own a Dorothy and would like to eventually purchase a floor loom suitable for rug weaving as well as lighter work. What are your recommendations? Thanks.

Personally I love my "hardrock" maple 1964 Gilmore 4-shaft jack loom. I use it for for all kinds of projects, from laces to rugs. The Gilmore company still makes new looms, supplies parts for their old looms, and provides wonderful customer service. www.gilmorelooms.com

Have Fun.

I have used two different looms for rugs. My first choice would be a Glimakra standard because it is so verstile and beautiful to weave on. The beat you get for rugs is very nice! My second choice would be a Kessenich. They are very strong, hardy looms and you can usually find a 4 shaft one that is reasonable in price.
