Fiber artist Karen Reese Tunnell has been designing and fabricating art quilts and wall hangings for over 40 years. She prints her own patterns using traditional marbling techniques on cotton and silk and then often uses hand appliqué' and piecing to combine several prints. Drawing on the surface with pencils and markers and quilting, usually by hand, completes her works. Karen's exhibition, "Order from CHAOS: Art Inspired by Math, Science and Unnatural Disasters," is comprised of 35 art quilts and drawings on hand-printed fabrics which are displayed with Fernbank's specimens and collections.
