I have a new to me Ideal Glimakra loom which I recently converted from 4 shafts to 8 shafts. I had no problem weaving on 4 shafts. Now I'm having problems getting a shed. If, for example, shaft 4 is supposed to go up but doesn't move at all, what do I need to do?

It sounds like you have shaft 4 tied up to the upper and lower lamms on the same treadle. Do you have trouble depressing the treadle for this shed? What else can you tell us about the problem?

Just a general note, when working with more than 4 shafts you will need to tie up the front shafts progressively looser than those at the back. There are a few countermarche masters on here, I'd let them weigh in on this.

I figured out the problem. I needed  to shorten my long lamms. A couple more hours of adjusting everything and I might be able to weave by August.
