I must be missing something.  What is the difference?

As far as I know, its about he use of additional warp threads:

When you do a simple warp float, you just pass the weft under the warp-threads (the regular ones) you want to be seen.

A supplementary warp is formed by warp-threads you add to the warp. They are thicker than the normal warp and you can form the pattern by letting them float over or under the weft.

In scandinavia there exist heddles for backstrap-weaving that has a special row of holes for these additional warp-threads (for example: http://www.gewebte-baender.de/webekamm.html at the bottom of the page).

Those are some interesting pictures of different heddles.  They are awesome.

I have been scouring all of the posts from here and on Laverne's site.  There is so much wonderful information I just keep reading and re-reading.

Probably should put this in a seperate post, but I have been asking so many questions.  How tall is a normal rigid heddle?  I have been thinking I would try to make one from wooden coffee stirrers.  The popsicle sticks look to me to be too big to use with the threads we like to use.

I had wondered the same thing and stumbled on this VERY clear answer.  Thanks so much.
