I have a 56" Macomber, which is in wonderful shape.  I want to have 8 shafts, however, and I really don't want to purchase new ones.  I'm also looking to downsize to a 48" 8-harness Macomber.  I suppose I should sell the one that I have and then buy a 48".  Does anyone know about what price I can ask for my loom?  It has a friction brake in the back, rachet on the front, 2 sectional back beams, an apron on the front beam. It has a raddle and some lease sticks. (I have an old bench, not sure if I want to sell it unless I can get another one.)   I would also consider a trade, if someone wants a larger one. I've tried to find used harnesses, but haven't had any luck.  I live in Las Cruces, N.M.  Thanks!

Listening, because I'm in NM and would love a Macomber. I was thinking of something a little bit narrower than 56 but, well, I'm paying attention here. You never know.

The big looms are not in as big a demand as the smaller looms. I guess you know that Macomber sells add-a-harness kits for this loom for $275 each. I know you said you don't want new but in this case new maybe cheaper then purchaseing a used 48/8, I just sold a 48/4 (fully restored) for $800. Well in any case because this is only a 4 shaft I would say your loom is in the $1200 range. Have you contacted the weaving guild there in Las Cruces: http://www.mesillavalleyweavers.com/

To see if any one there is looking for a large loom.
