I just purchased an apron from Macomber for the warp beam on my 24” Macomber CP. I followed advice from this group and Ravelry and put the apron on the beam with the u-shaped tacks Macomber sent me. It looks fine. It is even, it rolls well and for the first time the apron rods come all the way to the heddles (the old apron rod with strings was way short). The problem (I think it is a problem) is that when I roll my warp onto the warp beam the warps lay on top of each other and I expected that the apron would lay between the warps as I rolled it, like the paper that I inserted with the apron strings. Am I totally confused about the purpose of the apron? Did I put the apron on wrong? Is this the way it is supposed to be? Thanks in advance for help.

Yes, that is how it is supposed to be.  The apron cloth is not a substitute for packing material.  It ends before the warp reaches the beam as you wind on.

Thanks so much! I really felt dumb, but now I feel smarter ;-)
