I can tell from the positive feedback on Judie's class that at least one class has gone forward.  How many have had students registar?  There are so many variables here; topic, time, day, lead time, cost...  The more we know the sooner we will figure this out.  Any obsevations about the students?

The free open houses are getting good attention.  So far, it's been a bit slow to fill.  I've been writing about the classes on the Yahoo boards and to my guild.

I'm open to ideas about where to put the word out.  I am working on getting Hand/Eye magazine which is online and published to write something.  I have also sent a note to Madelyn and will try again to reach HGA.

Does anyone have a reliable contact at HGA?  I don't seem to have found the right person to contact, no one responds to my emails.

I have two in my weave now: basic rigid heddle class, and one or two in my two-heddle twill class (rigid heddle, again).

I'm west coast, teaching at 6pm west coast time so the east coasters are taking a fairly late class, the Europeans wouldn't like the time (2 am?) and the Australians would have to have the day off work (since it's a Wednesday).

One participant is learning so she can teach locally, the other is learning for her own sake, for fun. I forgot to ask them their time zones, but both were in the US.

I think it may take a while to pick good times/days of week for classes -- villageweaver pointed out that 10 am east coast might be early for west coast people -- but actually many hobby-ists are trying to fit this in around their typical days, and so that 7 am west coast time may not be such a bad thing. I agree, though, it's going to be a good idea to monitor when classes are v how much attendance they get.

Similarly useful data to measure v. attendance is:

  • * level of difficulty (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
  • * number of sessions
  • * length of session (for 1-session class)
  • * cost per class-hour (unless Weavolution chooses to standardize on a fee for this ... another possibility)

I, for one, am looking forward to contributing to the data points :)

Other free venues to advertise:

Facebook (is there a Weavolution organization page? the calendar feature on Facebook could be used on that)

Yahoo email list WeavingSalesAds -- it might be appropriate to advertise upcoming classes both when they are first listed and again, say, 5-10 days before they occur (if you already hit this one, it shows how behind I am on my bulk emails!)

Not sure what other social media might be used, but FB is definitely the gorilla on the playing field these days.
