Murphy's oil soap is good. Just be sure you don't soak the parts in water.  A degreaser(Awesome from the Dollar Store) is absolutely, well Awesome! Wipes off easily with a damp cloth and removes even the grungiest of stuff. It has little fragrance and doesn't seem to hurt the wood. I've used it on old picture frames I thought were walnut-turned out to be oak or pine colored! Finish the wood with Howards Bees wax/orange oil combo...smells good, rubs in nicely and provides a lovely enrichment to the wood. A great way to get up close and personal with your new loom. I'd also clean all the bolts and metal parts that you can reach. Scotch brite pads on the heddles....they may even need to be removed and washed in hot soapy water, rinse and dry well. the grooves the harnesses slide in can benefit from cleaning as do the edges of the harnesses-that beeswax/orange oil rubbed into the grooves, or parafin/beeswax candle to help things slide is always nice. Periodically a good cleaning of all parts is a good thing, It operates more smoothly and appreciates the TLC.

Linda - Elaine gave you the best advice possible. I know the craftsman making the Purrington reccomends Howard's Feed & Wax. He also tells me to use candle wax / parafin on any surface that wood rubs against wood. Raise the harnesses and rub the sides, be sure to rub the lifts and the bottoms of the harnesses as well. Only use beeswax if you encounter a surface that you need thing to move but stick as well, like on a great wheel. You can get Gulf Wax at the grocery story or just use a tapered candle that you have around the house. I'd love to see a pic of your "P," I think I need to go home and photograph mine.
