Is anyone making plans for attending this festival?

This just in about the MAFA meeting at MS&W:

The next MAFA Reps meeting will be held in conjunction with the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival in the Rabbit Building at the Howard County Fairgrounds (same location as last year) at 5:00 PM on Saturday, 7 May 2011.   A map of the fairgrounds may be found at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival website at www.sheepandwool.org.

Rabbit Barn, Saturday and Sunday, 11 to 1.

It sounds like there will be several folks at the Weavo booth, so that is a good time to stop by!

What vendors should I not miss?

weaver-dyer (not verified)

Roz Houseknecht and I (Janet Stollnitz) have a booth with hand-dyed yarns (wool, alpaca, silk/wool, cotton, cotton/rayon, and more) plus handwoven and felted scarves, hats and unique pins.  Look for us at the Dyed Dreams sign in Barn 3, Booth 3.  Please do stop by to say, "Hi."

Okay, I have one vendor stop on my to-see list...

How about FOOD? Anything unusual or interesting? Anything served besides "la-la-la-la-lamb"? (As my husband pronounces it, drawing the beginning of the word out to sound like a bleat.)

The festival is just about a week and a half away! Now that it is approaching rapidly, has anyone else decided they are coming?

I'll be bringing a Structo 240 for folks to try at the meet up. It's threaded with Bertha Gray Hayes "Trellis" overshot pattern, (turned), to make it a one-shuttle weave. (Easy-peasy for anyone who isn't that familiar with weaving yet!)

I'll try and have some copies of the modified draft available on Saturday, May 7th, but hey—this is Weavolution...you can always find it here under projects and/or drafts! (Guess I better get busy uploading.)

Okay, I threaded the loom and when I started weaving the sample, I had a "WeaveFail" moment. (Talk about dope-slap to the forehead!)

The original was sett at 30 epi, and when I turned the draft, I figured the thicker warp (10/2) + thinner (20/2) would still be 2 per dent in a 30 dent reed, but pack in denser than the original 30 epi of all 20/2 warp.

Nope. (What was I thinking?) Of course I have ovals, not round circles! So a re-sleying is in order. Unfortunately, it takes the width down to 5.333" from 8". I took a photo of the sample, so when I get it squared, you can check out the difference. (And I'll bring the swatch to Maryland Sheep & Wool.) And if you stop by, be ready to throw a few passes of the shuttle!
