This sample was prepared to help me explore plain weave. I was intrigued by the way warps move when next to a square that pulls in. To accentuate the warp movement, I outlined the warp stripes with heavier pink yarn. I made my basket weave squares either 1 1/2 inches wide or just under 1 inch - and discovered that the smaller squares really work better than the larger ones.
After exploreing basket weave, I did a silly version of half basket. I changed the tie up of the basket weave squares so that I lifted 3 treadles, alternating with a single treadle.
Then I did some regular plain weave, fancying it up a tad by adding some shots of 3 threads while most of the weaving was done with a single thread.
