Weaving with horsehair. This is a memorial piece (for the horse), a commission. It's a 1-3 broken twill woven as overshot with a super fine unbleached linen as a tabby, blue 8/2 cotton warp. Broke most of the rules in horsehair weaving, which is usually done on a much finer warp and one hair per pick. I had so many different types of hair, from 3 different places on the horse, and many different lengths, that I decided to bundle them. Definitely a wall piece, it wouldn't be very nice as upholstery.

Wow!

Inga Marie-

How very interesting. Using horse hair in handweaving is a new idea to me so I am even more unaware of "the rules".

This is touching testimony to the owner's memory of a beloved animal. Nicely done.

A fitting tribute

I have been very interested in horse hair in weaving, and am glad to see your excellent example.
