New site update

May 15, 2016

We don't blame anyone who has wondered if the promises of a new site will ever be fulfilled. All we have been able to share have been promises and you have all been incredibly patient and supportive! For that we thank you. We have been in close contact with the developer throughout the process. We wanted to give you some firm numbers.

We have been stuck for months in the same stage of the process, but why? The reason we have been stuck is that our developer really cares about accurately converting our data. He has had to go through many rounds of conversions and has converted 95% of the data from a few months ago. This is a big step, so why can't you start using the new site yet. Well that 95% of the data still has converted 100% accurately, so our wonderful developer is still working on it. We esentially have 2 options, we can launch the new site sooner, but things won't be right, or we can take a bit longer and make sure that all our data gets converted over to the new site accurately. The second option is the one we have chosen and honestly probably the only option any of use would accept.

So we hope you still have some patience left with the process.

In the mean time keep weaving and know your information is of the upmost importance in this final stage of our change over.

Have a great day,

Erica & Oliver

I am sure that most

I am sure that most experienced weavers know how important it is to be patient and do things right. At least it reminds me of what I do in my weaving studio.

Feature request

Submitted for consideration: a "Search Just This Topic" option.

Example: Group > Color Study > Goals

I knew someone had mentioned they would study "color value". I wanted to search for the word "value" within this discussion topic.

p.s. I have worked with Drupal before and you are correct to take your time. Converting data from one community management system to another can be difficult.

weavolution progress

Evolution is typically a slow process.  So to me, it makes sense that as weavolution evolves, it will be slow.  I greatly appreciate the accuracy you are demanding of the process.  This is a great site and great community.  Erica and Ollie, you are doing such a great service for this wonderful community.  Many thanks.

I was an alpha tester on the first version, so I've been on this ride since the beginning. It's never been a good idea to release things before they're ready. Glad you're taking your time!

Requests for Dashboard

I truly like the Dashboard feature. If possible, I would like the option of filtering it by "new posts", "new comments". And, to show the forum or group name in a column.

I appreciate all the work you have done. Lots of good changes.

Problem wth text editor

When writing a group post I could not activate the [link] icon in the Text Editor. Adding the actual url did automatically create a link.

Posted for Web Developer's info. No reply needed.

I understand why you pulled

I understand why you pulled the group/forum message link.  But now how do I find the most recent comments posted to all the groups?  Early on we allowed all the comments to show in all the groups except for private ones so folks knew the groups existed and could decide whether to join them or not so they could follow in the my groups feature.  I can't filter the dashboard anymore to knock out projects and comment projects.  That filter disappeared.  If any one knows how I can glance at what is going on it would be greatly appreciated.  I live in the country, do not have broadband, my internet is a step above dial up.  Being able to scan a topic list to see what I actually want to pull up with images is a big deal for folks with slow internet.

Deb, about the Dashboard

Deb, about the Dashboard filters. I am certain this is one of the features they are still refining. I think this one is for members to use while it is a work in progress. It is great the members, such as yourself, let the site developer know how you use the Dashboard and what options you need.

Software development and conversion

Software as we know it today owes a huge debt to weaving, in particular Jacquard loom usage of punch cards to create very complex cloth. The complexity of what we can imagine only increases over time. Our collective missing of features proves how useful we have found them and come to rely upon them on a daily basis. We may use software to develop a design and plan a project but we are still able to navigate the myriad number of decisions and calculations by hand that also remind us to be grateful for 21st century technology.

This thread may help us all to focus on issues that could prove helpful to the software development process.

Happy weaving,

Francine

Thank you all for your

Thank you all for your comments, information, and support!

I tried to put the filters back, but that made the site unacceptably slow. The easiest way to see what is new in groups, is to go to the view specifically for group activity, http://weavolution.com/og/activity?sort=desc&order=Last+comment, for all group activity or http://weavolution.com/og/unread for activity in your groups that you have not read.

As for the link button not being active, I beieve this only works on a veryh few mobile browsers, it should work properly when you can text selected on any desktop browser (except possibley IE which Microsoft doesnt' even support any more). :)

Projects can be sorted by most recent, as can most other pages on the site. I hope that helps.

Spam button on comments

Reference: http://www.weavolution.com/project/zebrafink/rug

There were several off topic Comments on this Project post. I clicked the Spam button on the Comment. The reply page was ambiguous and made me question it had operated properly. Please be certain that it marked the Comment and not the Project as spam.

blank emails

I've noticed that I receive 4-5 blank emails seemingly daily from the site. It seems when someone posts it sends out an email, but the content is blank.  Anyway to stop these would be awesome. thank you! Tony

Get a daily email digest of recent posts

I found a setting that cut down on emails notifying of new comments and posts. Click on My Profile >Notifications. Then select, Edit Your Notification Settings. When page loads, scroll down to find the setting for how often to send messages. I selected Daily so that I get 1 email listing any recent posts versus one email for each post.

Hey, Fiberthis. Glad you pointed out the issue of blank messages. This Setting may help while the Web Person is working on a solution.
