bought 8/4 before owning the loom. Plans were for a dishmat using my 10 dent, using for both warp and weft - is this a good idea?

My other project idea was to use it for a bathmat  but not a rag rug, don't like them.

What kind of loom do you have?  That controls the projects you can do more than the yarn.

I have a 32" kromski rigid heddle

Get a 12-dent heddle and use your 8/4 to warp and weave a dish towel. It would be very difficult to weave a rag rug with a Kromski rigid heddle loom as you cannot beat the weft hard enough. With the 12-dent and 8/2 linen you can make some very nice hand towels. I am sure others will be along shortly with other opinions.
