Has anyone used size 10 crochet thread instead of 10/2 cotton?

I just warped for a scarf yesterday with mixed fibers including some size 10 crochet thread, 5/2 perle, 5/2 bamboo, and novelty fibers. So far all is going well. I've used crochet thread for weft in Christmas cards. I've never used entirely crochet thread for a project.

I have in towels, the 3 ply crochet cotton is harder twist than 10/2 or 8/2 for towels. The crochet cotton is not as soft when wet finished. The towels were a 2 block satin damask (not true 5-shaft satin, but 4), so normally they would be very soft fabric. I decided it would make a great rep weave in the warp or a table runner where the cloth is firmer. :)

Thank you for the information. I'm thinking it might be more useful in an inkle band or for its intended purpose--crochet.

Thank you for your information; the scarf sounds lovely. Please let me know if you post any photographs--I'd enjoy seeing them.

I  finished the scarf yesterday and wore it today. Quite pleased with the results. Out of 96 ends at 12 epi , there were probably only 10 ends of the crochet thread mixed in with the bamboo, perle, and various novelty yarns.
