I recently tried an experiment - inspired by a post I fell into while looking for something completely different (which happens too often!) - anyway the experiment was to spin newspaper into "thread" yes you read that right - newspaper.

I've blogged about the details here and included a pic. I'm now in search of others who have tried it asking: what tips, tricks, lessons did you learn doing it? In addition to the things I discovered before making the blog post - I've found that the FT which is a lovely colour, and a decent read, absolutely sucks as a spinning fibre - must be something about the type of paper they use - its just too brittle. the Guardian, on the other hand holds up well to the "abuse" of being bashed, shredded then twisted at speed.

My plan is to spin some more - enough to do a small knitted something, then to try a weaving something - here too if anyone else has done same I'd really like to hear about your experience doing so.

hi, I have just remembered a thread long time ago about spinning paper. It was in the backstrap group and you can find it here from post #3 on to post 12.There are some links included.

I have tried spinning sewing pattern paper and like the result, but I have had difficulty with the joins.  Does anyone have a suggestion?  I can't get the joins to adhere.
