Here is a photo of it - can anyone work out what it is, and if it's worth me trying to restore? It's actually in pretty poor condition, from what I can tell, which is a shame.

Is it complete?  Does it have the warp and cloth beam, rachets and pawls, shaft frames?  The heddles are probably missing or bad, that's ok.  If it's incomplete, it may be more trouble and expense than it's worth to fix it.  It looks like a table loom, and table looms in much better condition are easy to find and not expensive.   If the seller was selling it as in good condition, you may have some options.

My son brought back to me a rug I made him years ago where 1-3 warp threads had gotten sucked into the vacuum and snapped.  It is a weft faced rug and I think I can dig out the broken ends of the warp, maybe even find the route of the old warp, but then what?  If I thread in a new warp, how do I attach it and secure it...to the old one?   I apologize if I have posted to the wrong place, but I have spent the last half hour+ searching this website for access to a posting location, and couldn't find another way except piggy backing off someone else's recent post...sorry!

Without seeing a picture of what you are fixing, it's hard to tell how to fix it.  Normally, a well made rug won't come apart with a few broken warps.  You make a new post by selecting "Add Stuff".
