I'd like to start a dialogue about how to price classes for Cyber Fiber.  When Claudia asked me to come up with some classes, I did a quick look at what was already up, there wasn't a whole lot, but it seemed that a three hour class was about $40.  Now all of a sudden I'm seeing three hour classes for $60. So now I'm way underpriced.  And I noticed that there is a one hour session for $40.  I'm wondering if there should be some discussion so we all appear to be on the same page, I'd like to be fair to the students, and to me, and to Weavolution so we all benefit from this terrific venue.

We are still in the early stages of getting people to participate in on-line classes, and teachers to use it effectively.  So I think that a variety of prices is acceptable now.

My class may look like the most expensive one but it is 12 weeks and we average 2 hr of webex class a week. I spend several hours a day interacting with the students, we have a private group here on Weavolution and a google docs site too   Both are essential for interactions and sharing.  It is important to me that there are student to student interactions in addition to student teacher interactions.

Back to pricing: I would say I spend 10hrs. a week interacting with the students.  Prep time is addtional.  Anyhow 12 weeks x 10hrs. = 120 hrs. for  a fee of $350, some for Weavo, some for me---I maybe getting $2/hr. per student.

On weavo they post most comment, problems and pictures ( thanks for the improvement).  On Google I post my PowerPoint presentaions, any documents  that I think they need.  We also make spreadsheets and each participant fills in their results.  Google.docs is free and easy to use.

I urge you to get your classes to be as interactive as possible using these venues or others you think are appropriate.  For example after a n inkle class it might be appropriate to have a Weavo group where they can post what they are weaving on their inkle looms; especially since in a short class they won't have finished anything yet.
