Sophie Talker, weaver

This rug, woven by master weaver Sophie Talker, hangs on a wall in a publicly accessible area of the Murray Library on the campus of Messiah College in Central Pennsylvania.

As described on the accompanying material:
"The Yeibechei dance depicted on the bordered rug made by master weaver, Sophie Talker, is part of a healing ceremony that lasts eight days and nine nights .... Sophie Talker's rug is larger than most. It presented her with the considerable challenge of maintaining the colors used throughout. Distinctive features in this rug include the appearance of a medicine bowl, as well as the formation of the figures' hands with their individual fingers -- evidence of Sophie Talker's superior skill and creativity.... Sophie Talker, a member of the Salt clan, lived in the Shonto area of Arizona, where the rug was made."
