Well, after putting the Ashford loom together and ready to make the scarf that was in their pamplet, I measured out the distance from the loop post to the loom and started looping the yarn. I am about 3/4 the way through and looking good. All of a sudden the stool fell over and all the loops wound up in the floor. What a mess that was. Soooo I started straightening out the loops and the stool back up right, Somehow the stool was moved a little more back than when I started and after working each loop again, I had so many knots and tangles I thought I was going to cut and start over. But I am too stubborn to quit. After about an hour reworking and untangling the mess, I finally got it back in order. Now I am about 3/4 done weaving and I had to just stop and laugh. I know this has never happened to anyone else. RIGHT. It sure is looking good for a beginner I think. When I get it done, I'll post a picture of it. Richard

Oh, ya, and this is just the beginning of what can go wrong!   But keep that attitude and you will be fine.

I was winding a warp once and the thread broke.   That made me think, so I made a small butterfly of the yarn and took it over to the sink and made it wet.   The whole thing disintegrated in my hand!   Well, that yan ended up in the trash can, and now I test before I do anything.  Live and learn!

that weavers secretly LIKE knots, since we spend so much time creating them and then untangling the unintentional ones.

I conquered most of the unintentional ones when I put the sectionals on the beam for cotton. That is pure madness. LOL :D

I mean I have withdrawn as much as 2 yards off a wound spool and let dangle on the floor. Pick it up at one end and begin drawing it through my hand and watch at least one knot form with no effort at all. Imagine the fun with a bout of a couple hundred loopy threads, NOT for me. :D

YEP, it was cotton. You can't imagine what kind of mess I had with about 30 loops laying on the carpet. LOL. I just finished the scarf and it actually turned out, for a beginner, on the first weave pretty good.  Richard
