Hi Karen

I'm glad I've had a go at weaving mohair. It's not the easiest to weave, but the fiber is so beautiful it's worth the effort!

Thanks for leading this team into unchartered fiber territory - My mohair yarn would still be stuck in a stash box otherwise!!

I agree that the mohair was a little tricky, but it was well worth the effort! The finished piece is heavenly to see and touch. I learned a lot by diving in, so the next time I use mohair it will be a little easier.

I'm so glad you took the challenge! Bravo!

I have now decided to weave another tiger skin for the nice sheepskin. Using the paper pattern to determine where the stripes should fall/stop, I have modified the weaving pattern some.

I did find another sheepskin which will be covered with this first fabric, but I will not have the time to complete it before H12 is finished. (Maybe there will be another UFO-group next year... ;-)

Kerstin, it is admirable that you are going to take the time to make the tiger skin just right. The first attempt was an important part of the process, right? I hope you will keep us posted on your sheep in tiger skin project. It's fascinating!

on my Purple Cowl #2 and managed to put in a sticky yarn in the warp - not mohair but similar in texture - its an acrylic/nylon/wool blend and hairy! Don't know what I was thinking! These another fuzzy yarn in there too but it is not sticky.

I've had sticky warps on my rigid heddle before. It can be slow going, especially if you have to coax the sheds open, and try to avoid skipped stitches. You're working with pretty colors, though, so that'll keep you going.
