I cleaned some old files out of the Dropbox this morning.  I also invited several people to the General folder.  In addition, Sally and I have been reading and editing items in the Dropbox, please check back for changes and add your two cents.

Thanks,

Claudia

Hi Claudia,

I'm not able to open, it claims format isn't valid. I have both Pages and Word. Neither opens it. Thank you.

I look into it on Monday when I turn on the main computer. Thanks for the heads up. Claudia

Hi Everyone

I just added a word doc for All Hallows Weave. Please edit to add your thoughts and ideas!

Beth

Karren K. Brito

Where is the dropbox and how do I get to it?

ETA: Now have dropbox installed (Thanks Mary) but no files shared with me.  Is my email on your list Claudia?

B P (not verified)

I've now loaded a gantt project planner to the drop box. If you want to edit the doc you need to install the free software from http://www.ganttproject.biz/

I now need input to add to the project plan, any ideas anyone?

-Decide on timetable for the months EVENT,(3-31 Oct) week by week(?) I can't remember if we decided to warp looms before the official start?

- How many Teams, and their names(?)

-Advertising the project at Weavo and email lists

-Letter to our advertisers. Request items to give away from our advertisers....list them as Event Sponsers(?)

-Create a space at Weavo for the Teams to congregate/hang out. New Groups(?)

-Organize the finale....a Show & Tell at Cyber-Fiber(?) Who will play Host?

- Awarding the prizes. Rules of Competition; who will win a prize?

.....I can't think of any more!!! Over to you all!

Could each member of this group brianstorm 10 names for the event here?    No editing just brainstorming--we'll feed off each other.

Also I think this is different from a weave-a-long.  Each person is asked to set their own goals; one person might want to try warping with a paddle, another might want to finish all the off-the-loom projects in the closet.  Some teams are formed around themes: one might be weaving with finer threads than you ever have, another might be sampling for a project.  Some teams are for novices others are for confronting your weaving fears.  Some teams might form around a location, guild, teacher or shop. A team might form to weave in public or everyday.  Room for everyone to grow.

Wizards and witches weave or is that too much alliteration?

Claudia

Karren K. Brito

I really like Halloweave.  I like it for its statement about what we are going to do, weave, and for the seasonal reference.  It also does well if this becomes an annual event, The 2011 Halloweave or Halloweave 2011.  It also sound like an event with a begining and an end.

Monster Stash sounds like a team that is dedicated to working only from their stash-- no buying anything new. Do you want to lead that one, Mary?

Folks I have now installed the dropbox, but can't find anything from you all in it.  Have you shared with me? Beth, I'd look at the document you made if I could see it.

Mary Rios (not verified)

I like Halloweave too. What are the responsibilities of a leader?

Karren K. Brito

Biggest responsibility is to set up the group- that means write the description/guidelines for the group such as use up stash.  Moderate the group.  Some team leaders are cheerleaders others are almost invisible.  First year might need a little more cheerleading.

Maybe a team logo, too.

If we are all agreeable(?), I can change the name on the docs I put in dropbox to 'HALLOWEAVE 2011'.

I'll also rough in the timetable that Karren quoted to our gantt project sheet. I guess we can make final adjustments to the timetable when we meet on Saturday 13th August?

Beth

Claudia Segal (not verified)

Sounds like a plan.  Some have contacted me via email voting for All Hallows Weave and I think we need to discuss the top choices on Saturday.

Beth, go ahead and do the timeline as Karren suggested and we'll worry about a name for the event when we meet next.

Thanks for all you help and suggestions everyone.

Claudia

PS. It would be great if another team member chose to lead this.  I am not able to do that.

thelmaweaves

is for HalloWeave.  I think it's a great name.
