Hello all. Need advise on being able to weave horizontal herringbone on my ashford 24" RH. I can do it sideways( where it looks like a zig zag

going from front of loom towards the back) I want to be able to have it left to right. I used Liz gipson's video and the zig zag runs

the lingth of the scarf not the width. Is this even possible to do on my loom? I am using two #5 heddles, one pick-up stick and one

string heddle.

To do any point twill on a RH, you need 2 heddles, like you have done for the horizontal herringbone. To put the herringbone vertical, the length of the loom. You will need to thread your loom differently. For the horizontal, you will have threaded 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3 and so on. For true point, along the length of the warp, you will thread 1, 2, 3, 2, repeat, which I believe is usually the hole in the front heddle, hole int he back heddle, slot in both. Let me know if that makes sense. I look forward to seeing your project! :)

Hi Erica. Thanks for responding to my question. I really don't follow

your instructions. I also have a pick-up stick and string heddle. I understand

I need a least 4 sheds to creat the herringbone pattern. So I need to

set up threads for all four heddles. Right now for the vertical HB my

two heddles are threaded 3 in each slot and one in each hole.

Staggered from back heddle to front heddle. Plus the p/up stick

and string heddle.

So let's clarify how you have the loom threaded. What order are the threads following? In order to pick up the threads in order, what would you lift? For example, I would assume it would be the following: Heddle Heddle Rod Pick Up stick Let me know and we'll continue the conversation.
