I just learned the twining method of weaving rag rugs. Recently I discovered you can weave items of many shapes, fibers, and motifs using the twining method. And, as in all weaving, there are numerous ways to accomplish the same thing.

For me, a discussion group on the specific topic of twining would be great. Is anyone else interested?

i did twining in context of basketmaking many years ago. When I returned to fiber arts, I encountered split ply work in exhibits but have not pursued it. I would probably enjoy lurking.

I have been twining rag rugs for awhile.  It is an awesome hobby.  The idea is to use old sheets, etc,. Repurpose all used cloth.   I bought an awesome adjustable twining loom from  a lady on e=bay.  It is beautifully made.  If interested, let me know

I have started a Twist Along. Though I guess it is more of a Twiners challenge or study since each weaver will be choosing their own project.

  1. Jan-Mar __ Twined Basics __ a simple item using multicolored scraps

  2. Apr-Jun __ Twined Color __ item where colors are planned for value or pattern or graphic motif

  3. Jul-Sept __ Twined Shape __ item that is not a rectangle. Examples would be an oval, round, vase, or basket shape.

  4. Oct-Dec __ Twined Giving __ item you plan to gift or donate

Noviceweaver and Francine, your experience would be valuable. Is anyone interested in joining me in making these type projects? If so, let me know.
