Hello!

I'm static to join the group! I recently received a Cricket loom and I cannot stop imagining the possibilities. I finished my first scarf using yarn that is 85% acrylic, 15% nylon using a 10 Dent Heddle Reed. I would appreciate your advise:

  • Do you wet finish with this type or yarn?
  • If so do I do so like I would with wool, linen, or other?

I watched a video with Laura Fry on this matter but I don not recall anything for this type of yarn. Thank you in advance!

But its my guess that wet finishing would not hurt anything, and is likely to be beneficial.  If it were me, I would hand wash in warm-ish water, with a gentle detergent, rinse, wrap in a towel and squeeze to remove most of the water, and then dry flat.

We are so happy to have you here, Wicket, and look forward to seeing your projects and chatting about weaving.

Thank you! I will give it a try and post a picture once it's dry.

I recently had my first experience with acrylic yarn. I wet finished my scarf. I recorded my notes on a project page - http://weavolution.com/project/10ashus/pocket-scarf
