I am talking to a seller about her Pssyllingen 8 shaft table loom - any one worked with this loom and if so what are your thoughts?

Hi Dawn,

The Pysslingen loom was made until l979 as a four shaft table loom with legs.  It has wooden jacks at the top of the loom. It became the Victoria, with pulleys on the top of the loom.  It then had the opportunity to have four treadles.  It also had the option for 8 shafts.  By the way, the name Pysslingenmeans 'little elf'.

Joanne have you woven on one?  Is it a good workshop loom?

on the Vitoria four shaft and I found it makes very nice sheds.  I have heard from Pysslingen owners who like that loom.  It has rubber bands to hold the shafts down, so that the lower part of the shed has a tight tension.

I purchased a used Pysslingen 4-shaft loom last year, and while I am very happy with the loom, the weak point seems to be the rubber bands, which break too often (startling to say the least).  So we modified it by replacing the rubber bands with the appropriate extension springs. I have had no trouble since.  Attached are a couple of pictures, one shot of a single spring; the other pix of the loom with springs attached and one shaft engaged to show the extension of the springs.

That is a nice solution.  Believe it or not, some of the looms still have the original rubber bands.  They were a red color and they must have been really strong to last this long.  The springs are a nice replacement.

I tied cord around the Pysslingen shaft and attached the spring to the cord.  I had to experiment a bit to get the right size and tension.
