Lovely! More details pleeeease!

Laverne,

I´ve woven this brocaded shawl three years ago. The warp was bought in Minas Gerais, Brazil. It´s a mix of linen, viscose, and cotton or silk. The graphics were taken from Techniques of Guatemalan Weaving by Lena Bjerregaard, pages 45 (Kot, two-headed eagle) and 46 (birds). The selvage to selvage pattern was taken from a newsletter by Nellie Sargent Johnson (February 1945) that I´ve found in the Internet. If you don´t have it. Please, let me know. I can send it to your e-mail.

Cheers

A really fabulous piece!!  Did you spin the cotton?  Would it be possible to see a picture of the back?  Thanks for the references too.

Bonnie.

Lovely brocade!  I would love to see pics of the whole shawl.

Hi Bonnie,

I haven´t spinned the cotton. I´ve bought it from a community of low income weavers based in Unaí, a city in the center region of Brazil. I can´t show you the back because I gave this shawl to a friend of mine who lives abroad. The shawl has the same pattern on both extremities.
