hi Marie, Try the shops that import sari silk and Himalayan yarn from Nepal. Some of them stock the Giant Nettle fibres from Nepal. My wholesaler will sell it in small quantities, a Kg at a time, so if you cannot find anyone local to you, PM and I will let you have his details.
Its very messy stuff, as its coated with clay to help it slip through your fingers. For this reason it may be difficult to import as a spinning fibre. The clay is very fine and I need a face mask to handle the nettle I have. I would never recommend spinning indoors with it!

Anyone have any idea where we may be able to get our hands on some nettle fiber for a spinning class??

has nettle for sale, I've not tried it or bought from them
You might also look for ramie, which is a type of stingless nettle.
